I found my aprons today in a bag, wadded up…and I laundered them and hung them up…in hopes of wearing them in the kitchen of 8200 Nelson street again one day…..thanks Karen

I grew up in this house and enjoyed this back yard for 36 years. The picture made me happy to
see that someone is enjoying hanging their
clothes on the line too! I hope all the plants
are blooming. My Mom had a beautiful garden there
and the flowers in the corner by the shed were very colorful.

Geraldine, I live in the house where your Uncle used to live across from Incarnate Word. I miss seeing your Dad every morning on his way to Mass.
I also miss the Fig Trees, my mother in law lives in the Cousins old house and since the shed blew down we can move freely around the yards. We snuck over to use the clothes line.
Whenever I stand at the sink I think of your family.

Karen, your thoughts are appreciated and I will pass them on to Mom. She and Dad are doing well,
we can’t bring them to the old neighboorhood per doctor’s orders as it will upset them way too much, as this was their life.
I do enjoy the photos you post of the neighboorhood, and the one of our old back yard brought back memories.
I wish you’all well and maybe one day, when I can get the courage to come back there and not get so upset, I’ll let you know. But for now, I’ll check your site to see what’s going on.

Geraldine,
You should come back to the neighborhood to see what’s going on. It’s very positive. I live in the 8200 block in the Truard’s old house. The tornado got some of the houses on Apricot, but we are still there. Just be aware that this neighborhood is now filled with people that want to be here, will continue to take care of it, and will never give up. You are welcome anytime.
