What’s the problem here? Looks like Walgreens is being a good “Green Citizen” by recycling. I would think that would be received as a good thing. Why are you criticizing them for such behavior?
Gee Andy, I think they have to actually get rid of the crap before they can be considered recycling. If I throw my bottles out on the street it is not “recycling”
I am attempting to contact some friends who might “back” a local co-op store. I will keep you posted. I love the location. We don’t need another walgreens. We do need a grocer.
At least Walgreens doesn’t sell “40s”
Andy: Proviso No. 9 in the City Planning Staff Report dated Nov. 17, 1997 for the Riverbend Walgreens on Carrollton and Maple: “No dumpsters or trash receptacles shall be permitted outside the building.” While you are dining at one of the restaurants on Dublin, Dante or Hampson stroll around to see the sights as tourists do. Get your camera ready to snap a picture of the rear of Walgreen on Dublin St. The construction size dumpster approx 20 yds. that can contain 4 tons has been in the street adjacent to a fire zone ever since the store reopened after Katrina over 6 months ago. One cannot get a permit for this monstrosity forever so it should be reported to the Fire Marshall and Dept. of Public Works. Prior to Katrine, Walgreen was not in compliance with the proviso. The dumpsters were placed outside the building in the street since 1997 attracting the regulars who plowed thru it every night finding discarded merchandize to sell or trade. That’s what the businesses, restaurants, tourists and residents on Dublin and Maple Streets have to face every day for 8 1/2 years. The managers have been unresponsive to neighborhood complaints. Oh, yes, about 2 yrs ago, the dumpster was replaced by 5 giant garbage cans so that one could not say that there was a “dumpster” outside. Now what makes you think that city codes permit Walgreen to keep their massive bundles outside waiting for the recycling contractor? Perhaps in the suburbs where their suburban stores are located away from nearby residences, but certainly there are prohibitions against that trash display in an Urban Historic area across near residences. such as the one proposed for Carrollton and Claiborne. Tell your client to get their blasted dumpster removed from Dublin between Hampson and Maple in the Riverbend before I report it. But before you do be assured I have a photo of it to place on this web site.

No, you are correct, but placing them in the correct receptacle/bundles and waiting for the recycling contractor to pick them up would be appropiate.
